  • elaine okay, today is r2p2vlcd31, yesterday was a full month on my own protocol with releana sublingual tablets. results: been stuck around a total of 15 lb weight loss for the last few days-to a week. time to change it up. i am happy with .5 loss a day, (who wouldnt be) but for the next week i am off hcg and going to P3, with a miniload on the last day of the P3week. i have read extensively about cycling and am going to try it, ill report back next week. for the moment, the plan is NOT ONE CARB, even my fruit for this week. so as a reminder to self: 3/30/2100 was my first full day off of hcg. 4/6/2011 will be my last day of p3 and the day of a miniload. then on 4-7...back on 30 P2days of the releana. for the last 30 days most of what i eat has been protein and fat, and well over 500 cals a day. the only benefit i can see to the releana is that i have experienced NO HUNGER! i know its the hcg, cos yesterday, at 36 hours without any releana, i was STARVED. have 3 little pork tenderloins and a piece of swiss cheese.

    Hi Folks!
I am totally rogue. I do not give advice. If you are new, you should follow the official protocol.
BUT, If you are R2P2 and want to see what I have been doing and the results, you can look at my profile. I am at R2P2VLCD23. I am averaging .736 lbs a day. Caveat: I have always done well on an Atkin's-like diet. I do not have any poor health other than slight hypertension and fibromyalgia. I do NOT advocate going off of official protocol. I am on 300iu Releana sublingual tablets, let them dissolve for 10 minutes and I am NEVER hungry.
I am posting this to say three things:
    1. Thanks for all the postings, it really helps me to explore the questions already asked and the answers. For the most part, I think anyone posing a ? could look at the search button and already find the answer, but I enjoy seeing everyone's take on things, all the time!
    2. I like to see my ticker in public, altho my scale is crazed. I THINK I have lost a certain number of lbs. but really, the tale of the tape is revealed to me by the way i fit in my clothes. I do not get caught up emotionally by the freaking scale. Inches matter, but if you are a carb addict, it takes longer to see results. Nuff said.
    3. I would recommend anyone to use BRAGGs Aminos as a substitute for salt or soy sauce. They measure their carbs in mg instead of grams. It is hardly any measurable amounts of carbs and very low sodium while providing a salty taste for us taster-salty-friendly folks. Think SUSHI.
    That's all!

  • elaine How in the heck it is NOW r2p2vlcd23 is beyond me, I cannot figure out how two days ago it was vlcd19. It just dont add up, but I have NEVER been good with numbers! okay, so let us say it is confirmed...I am at R2P2VLCD23! With a total of nearly 16 lbs gone. That means I have lost about .73 per day. Hmm. Maybe that is not as bad as I thought. I am still SLIGHTLY in ketosis. Okay, I am not gonna complain yet. But I am not eating one single carb tonight. I do not care if anyone says ketosis is not a part of this diet; for me it always has been. I have traditionally done well on Atkins, but it was not sustainable due to my love of potatoes. Which I am gonna try to get over this round, and do P3 correctly, IF I EVER GET THERE, sigh. One current observation is that I have not really been hungry, but I still eat little yummies (according to my protocol but no other) as I am cooking for the Hubster. So, no, I do NOT have a single French Fry, or Potato Chips, or Bread, or any kind of starchy carbo thang that HE has, but I have had plenty of beef (way more than I should), a glass of white wine or two or three, now and then (I am having a glass right now), Marie's bleu-cheese dressing (and I mean less than a tablespoon), fat-free half and half in my coffee, BUT not enough salads nor apples, which I know help ALOT, and I think after tonight, I will switch to fish, salad greens with no-calorie dressings and no tomatoes and stop on all dairy. ON THAT NOTE: I also have been having cheese (notably, I had FRIED mozzarella cheese sticks TWICE!) and, once a day now and then, a little deli peppered eye of round ( 2 slices) with a slice of Swiss. Very satisfying, but really, not necessary; its more like I am just bored and afraid I am going to GET hungry in the afternoon. So I can change that up too. I am also gonna lay off the Jay Robb Chocolate Smoothies with 4 strawberries in the morning. And just do 4 strawberries. I NEVER do Melba toast. No, No, No. Just makes an urge for more carbs. With anything else going on, I am always a BIG water drinker, and I do believe that this is one of the secrets to going off protocol. I drink a gallon of water a day (I weigh 166, I drink 128 oz of water daily). So, I am going to change things up (maybe, if I can, I am a weak sort of woman) and report back faithfully what happens. There are other online forums where irritated AND irritating people are either bashing anyone who goes off protocol or else subjecting some unsuspecting readers to their own experiments, and so I wish to do neither. I am grateful to the experts here that give great advice and with some searching I find what I need to know. I do not give advice. I want folks to think for themselves, the way I did, so you will learn for yourselves. Every BODY is different. Last round, in spring of 2010, I kind of shot off my mouth here. This round, a year later, the tale of the tape told me that I dont really have any reason to publicly talk about what I am doing. If you want to watch my daily report, I will report faithfully my screw-ups and results. I am not a medical researcher nor an expert. I cannot recommend anything I do, as I know one must search for the path for him or her self. But I will say this...do NOT go rogue until you have done at least one round to see for yourself if the official hCg protocol works. It is tough and it sucks, but I have seen it works for many folks for PERMANENT weight loss. And, if you cannot stick with the diet, then at the very least, you gotta give up the carbs, to break the habit and addiction. Replace carbs with meat and if you have to, the very satisfying cocoa crack made with coconut oil, and folks, that is your treat and your ONLY sweetie-treat. If you do well on Atkins, maybe you will do well on what I do. I would recommend the Calorie King book, to make the best choices for you. The way I do it, I can eat "out", I can have a Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte, I can have roasted chicken breast from the grocery store, I can eat at Wendy's, I can have a freaking glass of wine or two or three, even. My life cannot stop due to this diet. My life doesnt allow that, but for sure, I lose weight and certainly inches. And if I have to do it every spring, after eating the way I love the rest of the year, well, it is worth it to ME. So...yes...I am at vlcd23 with an average of .736 loss a day, BUT, and here is something very important WITH a gallon of water DAILY! Here is a reminder. If you want to drink white wine, fine, BUT...if you do NOT drink MORE water, than the wine, you will have a HUGE loss the next day. That is due to dehydration. In other words, it isnt REAL losses! Once you have replaced the water...right back up the lbs will come. Do not fool yourself into thinking drinking alcohol provides weight loss, for it doesnt. Looks like it, but it is not real. Maybe for that one moment, you can say, oh... I lost 5 LBS! Dont fool yourself. But to prove it to yourself, watch...on the day after a bender, you will eat like a hog, crave salt and fat, and drink water like crazy. Weigh yourself once an hour. Just this week, and this is no lie, I gained 12 lbs in one day. Granted...my scale is stupid, expensive and useless. But really. 12 lbs in one freaking day? No matter how wrong the scale is, drinking alcohol is NOT A GOOD IDEA on this diet. If nothing else it will ruin your ideas about your discipline and this diet and make you quit believing in yourself and undermine your efforts. Ok, thats it for the minnit! I see folks are watching, and I want to tell the truth here. And, I have. I will keep reporting. I must say, I wish I would be over with this NOW and maybe if I would have followed official protocol, maybe, MAYBE I would have lost more weight. Maybe not. But, MY way, I can lose weight, my own WEIGH...For the two-weeks of the beginning of this diet, I can eat Atkin's, which works for me; I can have a Rum and Diet Coke, or dry white wine, which works for me; I can have deli meat and swiss cheese, that works for me; I can have Jay Robb Shakes, 110 calories and 25g of protein, that works for me; I can even eat at Wendy's, Safeway Roasted Chickie, Starbucks, and go out in the world, and still maintain a loss of 3/4 lb a day. But now, I want to change things up...moving towards salad and baked cod (which I love!) And, I will report back, for at some point, I think to maintain losses, you MUST follow protocol. But my way, eases things in better. That is my belief.

  • elaine r2p2vlcd19, total loss around 15 lbs (scale is crazed, cannot really tell exact losses). been very busy with the holiday (hubster is in an irish music band, so you can imagine). jay robb smoothie with strawberries, coffee, water, tea (hot and cold), filet mignon and roasted chicken breast for the last two days, once with a slice of reduced calorie/fat/sodium swiss cheese (not too interesting), once with a tablespoon of maries bleu cheese dressing. last night, had a full order (6) of cheese sticks with ranch dressing. i dont know why, but whatev er happened, it finally broke my stall!

a few days ago i was stuck in town. hopeless, i ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich from wendys. it was SO obvious that it was full of some kind of super-yummy stuff; sugar, fat...something! it was GRAND! it was all i could do not to eat it all. i had half of the breast and poor lettuce and tossed the bread and such out for the coyotes on the road home. and i noticed that i was kind of starved all night, no big deal, but more than usual. but didnt take advantage of that to cheat further. dont go to wendys for THAT grilled chicken breast! it tastes too good on P2.

you said you wanted something other than teas...but this combo seems to do the trick for hunger if you dont have hypertension. and i have only used these brands. and not all tea is the same.

    yogi tea ginseng vitality
    guayaki yerba mate
    any brand of green tea

this tea combination is not "my cup of tea" but it works great for other hcg-folks and other non-dieting folks i know, including my super-energetic husband who swears by it and doesnt have any weight issues. the guys he works with (non-hcg) beg me to make it for long work days; they say they dont feel starved and can work all afternoon after an insulin heavy lunch.

    thats a thot!

now, you said you wanted something other than teas...but this combo seems to do the trick for hunger if you dont have hypertension. and i have only used these brands. and not all tea is the same.

    yogi tea ginseng vitality
    guayaki yerba mate

we make a gallon pot of hot water and nearly boil it, then let it sit for 10 minutes to slightly cool. then we put 3 bags of each in for a total of 9 bags. we let it steep for a half hour with a lid. (and its been much longer than that when we forget!) take the bags out and then pour into a glass pitcher. when it cools we stick that in the frig. once VERY cooled we pour it into three 32 oz water bottles equally and fill with more plain water and that lets hubster and his 2 cohorts live all afternoon without hunger. apparently, from experience, when you pour it into the bottles, sometimes there is LOTS of room for new water, so add it. it wont affect things terribly if diluted.

i dont myself drink this very often, cos i dont want all the stimulants involved. i am already hypertensive and cranked. and i dont have much hunger cos i am on releana sublingual tablets/pellets. but i think others may benefit, cos I think hot tea in general helps with releasing lbs. other folks may enjoy this cold, to stop hunger so i am posting this tea recipe. either way...I would suggest to dilute!

to repeat, this is a great combo, but in my humble, i need hot things to digest food and deal with my unwanted fat. but for some, drinking cold things seems to be part of stopping the hunger.
    thats my 2 pennies.

  • elaine replied to the topic Re:Sleep - Need advice in the forums.
i have GREAT luck with passionflower extract. i got mine from new life health food stores locally. the bottle says its for stress, but i have only used it to sleep. i take 30 drops, drink a pile of water and read. after 10-15 minutes or so, my hubster removes the book, turns off the light and the next thing i know, its morning! i like the stuff. no morning brain-fog, no climbing out of bed for midnight snax.

i used to be addicted to ambien and still occasionally take lunesta for sleep (1-2x monthly). with either of these, you have to arrange to have 8-9 hours to sleep and then take time to wake up and you still have a sleep-hangover, with grogginess, yuck. bad for workdays. another bad thing with rx sleep meds, is that i feel kinda high or "bombed" as i call it, before i drop off and get up and eat all the cocoa crack in the frig at midnight without my even knowing it the next day! so, i wouldnt recommend either of them. but for general (not mental stress-induced)lack of sleepiness i also have GREAT luck with passionflower extract. i got mine from new life health food stores locally. the bottle says its for stress, but i have only used it to sleep. i take 30 drops, drink a pile of water and read. after 10-15 minutes or so, my hubster removes the book, turns off the light and the next thing i know, its morning! i like the stuff. no morning brain-fog, no climbing out for midnight snax. now, sleep is hugely important to me...if my brain is SUPER busy and i am too stressed out and cranked, i do occasionally take rx meds...but i wouldnt ever suggest that as the first line of defense. the passionflower extract i take is kinda alcohol-tasting. so be careful if this is a trigger for you.

  • elaine replied to the topic Re:What about... in the forums.
i have been having the miracle noodles now and then. it has been said and the directions are clear, but dont let the smell (when you first open them) throw you off. i rinse them in a colander for a minute or so, then i put em in a no-stick frying pan and heat em up, which cuts down on some of the "jelly" mouth feeling of them and takes the smell completely away. (btw...the first time i ate them, i felt a little weird, like my body was saying what the h*** is THIS? so i would suggest you only eat 1/2 of the package to see if they are ok for ya).
after i "fry" them, i put them in a bowl and use a knife and fork to chop them up, cos i like to eat with a spoon. then i cover them with all kinds of stuff. i really like them, but its obvious they arent a sub for pasta or noodles of any kind, so watch your expectations!
for a super-fast dinner treat (for me, anyway) i put on garlic powder and braggs; but everyone is different and this may not suit anyone else. i also have had them with my "hcg-soup"...pacific brand no-fat chicken broth with minced onions and garlic, toss the noodles in and let em absorb the flavors. if you miss the salty flavor of chicken soup, just add braggs aminos. all the salt flavor, but low sodium and no carbs hardly at all.
i dont post often and its due to the fact that i am on releana, which has a slightly different protocol, with mixing veggies and such and i dont want to give new folks any rogue ideas....so i am not recommending that the new folks do what i do. im in round 2 and have learned what works for me. it may not work for anyone else, but i figure if you are interested in miracle noodles, you are already not following Dr. S's protocol to the letter.
i will say this finally...eating these noodles sometimes "fills" me up, which is a feeling i like to have sometimes, especially at night when i just made the hubster a fine giant dinner. lucky him, he is so active that he eats huge amounts of food and doesnt gain. and the noodles have been useful for a nice full feeling so i dont feel deprived. that is my 2 pennies. i am r2p2vlcd17, down 13 lbs on releana sublingual pellets.

  • elaine r2vlcd17, stuck here at 13 lbs down, but not worried, cos it is very obvious i have lost a lot of my lil apple tummy and hip-top. back in my size 8 levis with a little room to spare. tried a new thang today, yerba mate chocolate tea, has nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, stevia, and its quite yummy! seems that mate makes me hungry, tho, so while it does improve my focus and foggy brain, decaf green tea does about the same without making me hungry. i changed things up a little bit today, coffee as usual, the tea, lots of water, but limiting foodies. 1/2 teeny slice of gourmet lite turkey breast with 1 teeny slice of baby swiss, wrapped up in a lettuce leaf with 1/4 of a tomato with 1/2 teaspoon of mustard is all i have had so far. i could have eaten 20 of these, they were so good, but stuck with just one. and i never did eat that sausage last night, just had a bite or two, didnt want any more, which is incredible. i am peeing like crazy too. i am perfectly aware its gonna get to be tough times (starting now, apparently) after the first two weeks of P2; the weight fell off so quickly; now, to be stuck for days at 13 lbs down is a drag and cuts into my average loss per day (wah!), but the body is adjusting and i just have to remember that i AM doing it and i WILL lose bad fat and inches; regardless of the time it takes, it is still much faster than i could do on my own, even with atkins and ketosis. i cannot complain that i have lost 13 lbs in 17 days. ive been researching calorie cycling, which as it turns out is "kinda" what i do...days of 500 cals, then days of higher cals and fat, then back to my protocol. i might be more stringent about this and actually experiment with it once i know more. i will say this round has been a little easier than round 1. took me a week to lose one lb on round 1, then lost 11 lbs in two days. jeesh, it was depressing that first week, but there were many reasons why it happened, which i see now after a year of research. i was smarter this time, for sure. better loading, more psychologically relaxed, plus the releana tabs are better for me in terms of killing hunger in general, and my protocol allowing more and different food is great. amazingly, i have had little urge for cheating or cocoa crack or sniffling about hubbys yummy food choices. may be cos its nearly 90 degrees here today, and i am not skinny enuf to wander around with my teeny clothes on (mirror agreed) has given me some more incentive to behave better today. also, i have lost ALL faith in my very expensive scale. as of today, since i appeared to be stuck, i moved the scale around and lo and behold, just like my LAST expensive scale, depending on where it sits on the floor (level or not) it shows a difference of up and down over 5 lbs within 2 minutes of weighing! so i really dont have any faith i have lost as much as i think, or heck, it could be more, who knows! so my plan to not be attached to the scale results in the morning is probably best. have i lost 10 lbs or 13 lbs or 15 lbs? im gonna work on not caring and stick more with the process rather than be so result oriented.

i saw my doc yesterday and got my double b12 shot. just love those things. turns out that the releana pellets are 300 iu each of hcg. a liquid dose is 125, but for the sublingual pellets you take 600 iu of hcg a day. how about that. no wonder i am not even the slightest bit hungry! anyway...this is just fyi for anyone interested.
